ICT Agency of Sri Lanka appoints Conict Consultants as main advisor for national broadband network implementation

The main objective of this assignment is to provide TRC and ICTA with transaction support for the implementation of the 1st Phase of the National Backbone project, financed under E-Lanka in order to accelerate the development of a high speed backbone communications network that will enable the affordable provision of broadband services in the country.

In particular, existing and new service providers (working in a consortium with existing licensed providers) will be awarded a least-cost capital subsidy to build out the 1st Phase of the national communications backbone network. This would primarily be achieved through the competitive award of a capital subsidy through an output-based aid (OBA) tender process to operators that would be responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining the backbone on a commercial basis.
